Ludlow

Classic border town sitting along what was, for centuries, the hotly contended 'Marches' or frontier hill country where England meets Wales. In more recent, peaceful times Ludlow has earned for itself the sobriquet Gastronomic 'capital' of Shropshire. Latin scholar and celebrated poet A E Housman centred much of his nostalgia driven literary compositions, notably A Shropshire Lad with its "blue remembered hills", around the town's undulating countryside. An attractive historic and commercial centre, Ludlow is well served by train, coach and bus services. International flights touch down at nearby Birmingham and Manchester.
